When it comes to education, early learning is crucial for setting children up for long-term success. Decades of research highlight the lasting benefits of high-quality reading instruction.
But it’s just as important to foster early logic and critical thinking skills through math and science. These subjects build a strong foundation that helps children reach critical milestones, particularly by third grade. Without a solid grasp of these fundamental concepts, it’s harder for students to catch up. This is reflected in national assessments like the 2024 NAEP scores, which showed a continued slide in reading and math. These scores highlight the need for significant improvement in how we prepare children academically.
Waterford Reading Academy has long been focused on building literacy skills, helping thousands of children start their educational journey with a strong foundation in reading. Now, we are officially changing the name to Waterford Early Learning. Why? Because it’s more inclusive of what we’ve been doing for years – preparing early learners with proven reading, math, and science instruction. We will continue to ensure children, in addition to developing strong reading skills, are also building critical skills in math and science.
Waterford Early Learning offers a supplemental curriculum for both reading and math & science. Each curriculum engages learners through explicit instruction, featuring fun characters, songs, stories, and interactive activities.
