Like all areas of daily life, technology continues to bring innovation to the classroom. Personal learning experiences for students have been made even more possible through the use of digital devices, mobile apps and educational software. But how do educators make the most of the latest advancements in digital tools? How are digital tools improving student learning?
These questions are answered each year during Digital Learning Day. Organized by the Alliance for Excellent Education, this nationwide event is an opportunity for teachers and leaders to come together and explore how student learning experiences are being improved with the use of digital tools in the classroom. DLDay is also designed to help every student, no matter where they live, have access to digital learning opportunities.
The eighth annual Digital Learning Day will be held this year on Thursday, Feb. 28. Schools and local communities will host activities for the event and share innovative ways teachers can integrate technology into the classroom.
How you can get involved in Digital Learning Day
If you’d like to participate in Digital Learning Day, visit the DLDay registration page and add your event to the map. Then share your event and link to it so others can join in. You can plan a classroom, school, district or online event and add it to the map.
This is a great opportunity to connect with peers, share ideas, and learn more about digital tools that are improving learning experiences. To participate, you can set up a showcase of digital student work or spread the word about digital learning by sharing information and resources on social media.

Waterford curriculum for every day digital learning experiences
Waterford’s curriculum brings Digital Learning Day into the classroom on a daily basis as educators nationally use it in innovative ways to improve student learning. At Hillsborough County, Florida, the eighth largest school district in the U.S., educators saw significant achievement gaps among incoming kindergarteners. After implementing Waterford curriculum for at least 1,000 minutes, students in this district had huge gains when compared to their peers in oral language vocabulary, phonological awareness, print knowledge and math assessment with Waterford early learning curriculum.
This is just one of many examples of how educators use Waterford daily in the spirit of Digital Learning Day. For more innovative examples of Waterford digital tools improving student learning experiences, visit our case studies page.
